District Attorney's Office First Accomplishments For The First Year

2. DA WEBSITE - developed and launched, stjohnda.com.
3. ADOPTED and implemented a “DRUG FREE WORK PLACE POLICY”.
4. FELONY PROSECUTION TEAMS for each Division of Court. The felony prosecution team for each division of court consists of two Assistant District Attorneys and one DA Investigator. DA has mandatory monthly meetings with each felony team.
5. EAST BANK COURTHOUSE and WEST BANK DA OFFICE – substantial improvements have been made.
6. ADOPTED a “RECORDS RETENTION POLICY”, approved by Louisiana State Achieves, followed by destruction of 20 years of old records. Moved current closed records to Parish storage facility in Edgard.

TECHNOLOGY UPDATES

  • All employees have e-mail addresses and internet access.
  • Received a $60,000.00 grant to fund acquisition of a Case Management System that will
    allow electronic file keeping, tracking system, and formulary. Case Management
    System should be implemented by June 1, 2010.
  • Developed protocol for electronic transmission of Arrest Reports and Investigative
    Reports from the Sheriff’s Office.
  • Access to Clerk of Court’s Criminal Court Data Base for East Bank DA employees.
8. ACTIVE MISDEMEANOR PROBATION PROGRAM – All DWI offenders placed on active probation. Probationary conditions include monitoring of Community Service and Delayed Fines.
