Bridget A. Dinvaut was elected District Attorney for St. John the Baptist Parish in November 2014. Ms. Dinvaut was sworn into office by Justice John L. Weimer of the Louisiana State Supreme Court on January 12, 2015.
Immediately preceding her election, Ms. Dinvaut was an Assistant District Attorney for St. John the Baptist Parish, serving as Lead Prosecutor for Division C. Prior to serving as Lead Prosecutor, Ms. Dinvaut was a Senior Associate Attorney at the law firm of Lemle & Kelleher, L.L.P. where she practiced in the firm's Employment and Railroad sections.
Before entering the legal profession, Ms. Dinvaut's expertise and career path centered on criminal justice at the Federal and local levels. Ms. Dinvaut is a former Lt. Commander of the Narcotics Division for the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff's Office, where she served under Sheriff Lloyd B. Johnson. Leaving the Sheriff's office in 1994, Ms. Dinvaut would spend the next 8 years as a federal law enforcement officer assigned to Federal Supervision and Pre-Sentence Investigations with the Federal District Courts in Miami and New Orleans.
Ms. Dinvaut is a 1984 Honors graduate from Southern University, earning a B.S. in Criminal Justice, and a 2005 Magna Cum Laude graduate from the Southern University Law Center.
